The Frozen Four:

If you remember my first blog was about me attending my frist Badger Hockey game. Well that same team that I went and saw if now going to the Frozen Four: Which if you didnt know is the final four hockey teams in the nation similar to the basketballs Final Four. The Badgers defeted St. Cloud State the other day to 5-3 and play RIT college next. This is the badgers 5th Frozen Four and they were the 2007 National Champs. Hopefully they can do the same things this year.

Its About That Time

Wisconsin finished 4th in the Big Ten for Men’s Basketball this year which is pretty good considering they were picked to finish 8th or 9th, also while losing arguably there best player. But with the end of the regular season right around the corner this means that its tournament time. Every team in D1 college basketball with participate in the conference tournament and try to either make the big dance by winning the conference tourney or boosting their stock for an at large bid. The next month of college basketball is my favorite time of the year in sports. And with the top 3 ranked teams in the country going down within the last week; it truly is going to a March filled with MADDNESS.

Great Moments in Wisconsin Football

2005: Wisconsin vs. Michigan
Whenever Wisconsin plays Michigan in Camp Randall the crowd is always really wild. In the Big Ten Michigan could be compared to the Yankees of baseball. You either really love them or absolutely hate them. And especially if you’re from Wisconsin because Michigan has had Wisconsin number forever. So when Michigan came to newly renovated Camp Randall with the largest crowd in Wisconsin history you knew it was going to be really crazy. The first half of the game was very mellow and at half the score was 13-3. After the Bargers added a couple of field goals in the 3rd the score was 13-9. What was next was one of the most exciting fourth quarters I have ever seen. With about 11 min to go in the game Brian Calhoun the badgers running back scored by breaking 3 tackles inside the 10 yard line and beating the Michigan safety to the corner of the end zone to give the badgers a 16-13 lead. The next couple of possessions by both teams were failures. With about 7 min to go the Badgers were driving and in the past years the Badgers have found ways to give Michigan the win. Whether it be missed field goals fumbles or any other way possible. So when they were driving alls I was thinking is don’t fuck it up. Well sure enough with around 6 min on the clock the Badgers Quarterback John Stocko threw a pick when the Badgers were in scoring position. And then to add to Michigan QB Chad Henne hit WR Marrio Manninham for a 72 yard flea flicker touchdown pass on 3rd and 15 with 5 min left. Every One is thing oh great here we go again. But unlike past years the Badgers found a way to battle back. Stocko the same QB that threw the pick, lead the team down and then capped it off on 3rd down and goal with the game on the line. One of the Greatest Play Calls in Wisconsin Football History. Watch the Video below to see the play.

I had been going to Badger games for almost 10 years before this game and now 5 years after this game and I have never heard it as load in Camp Randall Stadium as it was on that day.

Great Time In Mad Town

So as you read in my first blog post, Saturday I went to my first badger hockey game. The experience I had was amazing. Before the game we went out to eat at a bar called Luckys which is on Regent St. very close to Camp Randall Stadium (Football Field). The overall service there was nothing short of awesome. We had a reservation for 16 people and they got us in and out of there in less than an hour with wonderful food for a very reasonable price. Our bill for 7 of the 16 was only $52. After we ate, the bar offered a bus service over to the Kohl Center where the hockey game was to take place. I have heard from many people that the Wisconsin Badgers have the greatest college hockey atmosphere in the nation and after Saturday I think it would be hard to disagree. The overall game itself was fun to watch. The Badgers who were ranked 3rd in the nation were playing St. Cloud State who was ranked 4th in the nation and had whooped the Badgers 6-1 on the previous night. The game started and it took all of 55 seconds for St. Cloud to score. But the Badgers battled back and won the very exciting game 7-5 with an amazing goal scored at the end of the 2nd period with 0.1 seconds left on the clock. For someone who loves sports but doesn’t really follow hockey I had a blast. It was a cheap Saturday and I can’t wait to do it again.

Badger Hockey

Saturday I will be attending my first Badger Hockey game and to be honest I am pumped. I have heard that hockey game crowds are just as wild as football games. I am also excited because this will be my first adventure in madison while being age 21. The badgers play St. Cloud. I am not the biggest hockey fan but I have never been to a game before and I have heard that watching a hockey game in person is a must in the sports fan world.
